Special Implants in Chișinău
What are Special Implants?
In cases when we have severe atrophy, and bone growth procedures would be too invasive and would not provide us with sufficient bone quantity to achieve fixed treatment with an adequate number of classic implants, special implants come to our aid.
What is so special about them?
They are either much longer or much shorter than traditional implants. But it’s not just the length that makes them more special. Special implants are often placed in other regions/in different bone (e.g. pterygoid, nasal or zygomatic bone), and some special implants generally have no resemblance to other types of dental implants (for example the subperiosteal implant).
Below, on this page you will find useful information about the types and prices of special implants used at Punto Bianco clinic in Chișinău for fixed teeth rehabilitation of patients who often have no other chances, who are refused by other clinics in Moldova and abroad.

Types of special implants in Moldova
What types of special implants do we use at Punto Bianco?
Zygomatic implants
Also called “”last chance”” implants, they are used in Moldova (and worldwide) when the bone is severely atrophied and bone grafts are either impossible or have already been performed but failed.
Because zygomatic implants are inserted into the zygomatic bone (located slightly below the eyes), the surgeon “”cannot afford”” to make mistakes. Under general anesthesia the patient remains motionless throughout the procedure and surgeons can work with maximum accuracy and attention. Pterygoid implants
These implants are used when the maxillary bone is extremely atrophied and does not allow insertion of a conventional implant. Pterygoid implants are anchored in the pterygoid bone, located behind the upper jaw, offering a safe and stable solution for patients who cannot benefit from classic implants. The technique allows avoiding complex bone grafts and offers a quick and efficient solution for smile restoration.
Transnasal and transsinus implants
These types of implants are used in cases of severe maxillary bone atrophy, when the sinuses or nasal cavity prevent placement of regular implants. Transnasal and transsinus implants traverse the nasal or sinus bone, providing solid anchoring and an alternative to invasive bone augmentation techniques. This approach minimizes the risk of complications and shortens recovery time.
Subperiosteal implants
Subperiosteal implants are a customized solution for patients who do not have enough bone to support a classic implant. They are placed on the bone surface, under the gum, without requiring drilling into the bone. They are made based on an exact impression of the patient’s jaw, offering a safe and efficient option for patients with severe bone atrophy.
