Minimally invasive dental veneers

What are dental veneers?

Ceramic dental veneers are the ideal solution that can change the aesthetics, color, and shape of teeth through a thin layer of ceramic in a permanent form. At Punto Bianco clinic in Chișinău, your smile will be planned in advance through Digital Smile Design, Wax up, and Mock up methods, in which you can participate yourself.

Tooth preparation will be minimally invasive thanks to preparation under microscope and binoculars (magnifying loupes), and sometimes tooth grinding can be avoided entirely (No Prep technique).

The ceramic is equally special, its name is eMax, available in a vast range of colors, extremely resistant and extremely aesthetic.

When do you need dental veneers?

Patients come to Punto Bianco clinic for veneers in the following cases:

  • To restore worn teeth – Veneers help reconstruct worn dental surfaces.
  • Correcting small-sized teeth – Veneers can increase the size and volume of teeth.
  • Presence of gaps and diastemas – Veneers are an effective aesthetic solution for closing spaces between teeth.
  • Restoring front areas affected by cavities – Veneers can cover and protect affected teeth.
  • Correcting the shape of unaesthetic teeth – Veneers are used to reshape teeth that have irregular forms.
  • Improving tooth color – Veneers are used to achieve a whiter and brighter smile, especially when whitening doesn’t provide the desired results.
  • Correcting fractures or chips – Veneers can mask cracks or minor fractures in dental enamel.
  • Improving dental alignment – Veneers can correct minor alignment imperfections, providing a uniform smile

Types of dental veneers

What types of veneers do we make at Punto Bianco?

Ceramic veneers - eMax

We decided to work with the most renowned ceramic brand in the world for dental veneers – eMax, which is also the most expensive. Why didn’t we choose a cheaper material?
The logic is very simple: in 90% of cases, patients who request veneers don’t have serious dental problems, but they have high demands regarding shape, length, width, thickness, and superior aesthetics. Therefore, we approach with maximum seriousness their need to have PERFECT, VERY BEAUTIFUL teeth and, equally important, healthy teeth after preparation (grinding teeth for veneers). Our patients understand that such a service cannot be cheap. Either we do it well, or we don’t do it at all.

As a less expensive alternative, there are direct veneers (in reality, it’s just a more “attractive” name for aesthetic composite restorations). They’re called direct because they’re made directly in the patient’s mouth, without involving a dental technician. Their advantages include the attractive price (three times lower than ceramic veneers) and much shorter completion time (1-3 days versus 2-3 weeks). However, they have two important disadvantages: the lifespan of composite veneers is much shorter than ceramic ones, and they stain and discolor faster.

FAQ Dental Veneers

Veneers are made from ceramic or composite. In our clinic, we prefer ceramic dental veneers from EMAX, because they are more durable and more aesthetic.

Very rarely can dental veneers be a solution for straightening teeth. Usually it’s possible when there are minor deviations in tooth position. In other more complicated cases, when teeth are more displaced or the occlusion is not correct, we will resort to orthodontics (aligners or braces) and if the result is not satisfactory, restorations/ceramic veneers can be made afterwards

Everything depends on the case. Normally, for veneer fixation, teeth are ground very little, and sometimes, some teeth or tooth areas don’t need to be ground at all. Everything depends on the tooth’s position in the dentition, its size, color, and shape. When grinding teeth for veneers, the dentist’s task is to not grind more than the enamel layer. This is very important, so that in the future the veneer is well fixed to the tooth. In general, tooth grinding is very meticulous and scrupulous work and for this reason, during grinding, we use microscopes and binocular glasses.

Yes, it’s possible, but everything depends on the specific case and patient’s wishes. The decision regarding the type of ceramic restoration is made by the doctor, depending on many factors, such as tooth position, enamel thickness, tooth color, and many others.

A dental veneer is a very thin and fragile restoration when you hold it in your hand. Once fixed on the tooth, it becomes durable, provided it’s made and applied correctly. The patient who has had dental veneers fixed doesn’t need to limit themselves especially, but everything should be done rationally. That is, what a healthy tooth can withstand, a dental veneer will also withstand. The only aspect the patient should consider is maintaining proper and regular oral hygiene. That’s all, nothing more.

There’s nothing complicated or special about caring for dental veneers. All you need to do is visit the dentist once every 6 months for a routine check-up and professional oral cavity examination. Additionally, it’s important to brush your teeth twice a day, morning and evening.
